Making Flowering Tea
Sit back and enjoy the spectacle as this tea will delight the eye, as well as the taste buds.
- Use clean fresh water, preferably filtered.
- Using a themstatically controlled kettle or kitchen thermometer heat water to 95C , just before boiling, as this helps keep some oxygen in the water which helps the flavour of tea develop.
- Pour the water into a glass teapot or glass
- Take the bud from the protective wrapping and drop into the teapot or glass
- The bloom will slowly sink and unfurl. This will take approximately 3 minutes. We suggest setting your timer for 3 minutes and tasting the tea at this point, you can thern decided if it to your taste or needs a little longer.
- Pour the tea into your tea bowl and any excess into a clean jug.
- Keep the bloom but not standing in liquid and re-infuse the bloom when you are ready for another pot . You can do this several times and the character of the tea will chnage each time.
- We recommend the blooms are refused on the same day only
- You can keep the blooms for a couple of days after use as a decoration by filling the pot up with cold water, which you should change daily
- Finally, you can safely put the finished bloom into your compost heap.
